Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, also known as Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed by the label's first female artist with Dreamville Records by J. Cole. On October 21, 2016 she dropped Pho, her first EP on the label Dreamville Records. That was the day she gained her first recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012, with the release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014 Ari Lennox released her single Bound, as well as her mixtape, which she released herself, Five Finger Discount. In 2015, she appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes Album on Sweat it out on July 21st. Later that year her music was circulating throughout the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some potential references to Rihanna. She officially was signed to Dreamville Records on 8 December. On the album Revenge of the Dreamers II which she was featured on, she sang the song Backseat along with Cozz. On October 21, 2016 her EP Pho was released. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track and also opened the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018, she appeared on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. And Bas in Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on July 16, 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. A music video was followed by a music video in September. On November 9 she released two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. In November 2013, she released her debut album No One and Pedigree. She then appeared as a guest on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track entitled Shea Butter Baby on November 16th. She released the single in February, 2019, to accompany her debut album with the same name. The track was launched with a music video uploaded to YouTube 20 February 2019 was watched more than 3 million times within the first 7 days. She supported the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
